  2. My JRT Louie, the smartest dog I have ever had, stopped digging after being scolded 2 or 3 times. No fenced yard. He hangs close to me every minute except for his toilet business. Your other observations apply to my JRT. Exercise, exercise, exercise!

  3. 2 Jack russells here, sisters nearly 13 years old and the only time they’re ever energetic is when someone’s at the door. The rest of the time they are like statues sleeping on either arm of my armchair. I became ill 2 months after getting them and wasn’t able to walk or exercise them so they’ve never known anything other than being couch potatoes. The only con for me is they cost me a fortune in covers for earphones 😀

  4. Looking to get another Terrier to be with My Blue Heeler Terrier mix, she is a great dog. Is there a big difference in the Parson Jack Russell Terrier and the straight Jack Russell Terrier? Any suggestions on why to get one of these dogs.

  5. I absolutly agree with your pros n cons. We allowed him to distroy his own toys and we still provide a lot to him in his 4th yesr. He never destroyed anything other than that. One other absolute con for me is that airlines accept dogs up to 8kg as dog in cabin. I had the first trip from Rovaniemi to Frankfurt when he was 10 weeks old. Since then he was always with me crisscross Europe. Businesstrips as well as holidays as he likes to swim and dig in the beaches sand. By traveling he learned quickly to stay silent alone in a hotel room over hours. We kepp the tv always on and have his own toys with us. So he feels somehow safe and is not too disrupted from people walking and talking outside.
When he came to us I fixed a tiny bell near the door and rang it whenever we went out for a pee. He learned within a week to ring the bell himself whenever he needed to get out for a pee. (Later he extended that comunication bell to 'I wanna play', I'm hungry','lets take a walk'…..

  6. I got a jack russell terrorist 1 of
the best dogs ever, 1 of the best burglar alarms you can get SPARKEY is just the best most emotional stuborn bad mannerd grumpy probably a better speller than me.

  7. I trained my pup from 9 weeks, so inteligent, love her she's so good. Only fault is she barks and runs at big dog's, lol! More socolization will help.
Ho and she bullys my son's big staffy ha ha!

  8. I have had 3 JR’s.. my last one passed away 5 weeks ago and I had to get another to keep the family sane, so Cooper is just 11 weeks old and very smart! They are devoted dogs and treat them right and they will never let you down…. They are very head strong at a young age, so the secret is you train them , they don’t train you. Best dogs ever!!

  9. Although our milo loves to snuggle up and lay on your lap, It’s always on his own terms! If you make too much of a fuss of him he hops down onto the floor, for a bit of his own company. He is so independent but he loves everyone and other dogs. We have been lucky as he took to his crate from 8 weeks old and slept right though the night! In fact he loves his crate, it’s definitely his safe place! He is super smart and takes to tricks very quickly but he is so cheeky and if you’re trying to tell him off for some reason he will have a groan while he walks away from you! He brings so much happiness to our lives. I would loveeeeee to get another little girl jack russell in the future but who knows!

  10. My jack Russell used to fit under the fence and we would be in school and come back and find her waiting outside the house! Also the other day she killed our neighbors bunny because we were getting groceries in the car and she ran away and the neighbors always leave their door open so she jumped in and killed it

  11. I Adopted a jug. Her Mother is a purebred jack russell and Father a pug. She has the jaw line and shape of eyes of a pug. She takes after in body shape and personality of a jack russell

  13. I found my jack in a parking lot 3.5 years ago. I love mine beyond belief. The pros and cons are accurate. I love how affectionate he is, he's my little shadow.
His discovery also helped me kick my alcohol addiction too, so all the wins with this breed.

  14. I live in Punta Gorda Florida .I’ve had 2 Jack Russels the last one died August 23 2020 I.I have been looking for another one hopefully a girl but will also take a boy. I have been checking shelters fostered place and ask people every where I go with no luck. If any one in the area has one they want to get rid of I will take them. Jacks are the best they keep you young and at 69 I need something to chase around the yard and dig up flowers as fast as I plant them.I can even shovel the holes they did to chins as fast as they dig them.Any information will help but can’t drive to far. Pmdowling51@yahoo.com thanks.

  15. Best friend I ever had. Miss him terribly, he passed away a year and a half ago. I'm 65 and had different breeds all my life but he exceeded in every positive way. God bless my Nicholas…. I wouldn't consider in the future any other breed. ????

  16. Just said i'd comment the moment i heard you say they whine ,,, they do big time , i've had jack russell's all my life and the best advice i can give is get 2 , so much easier to manage , no whining and its double the fun , trust me ,,,,, great video bud

  17. They are great hunters, they are a dominating dogs (the only dog that humps more then a jack rabbit in both male and female) they do bark a lot so if you live in a city or an apartment this dog is not for you, but I must say I loved this video, great content ????????

  18. I have a Jack Russell I rescued and have had him nine plus years he is 10 yrs old now What can i do about him barking alot ? I take him thru a drive in for food i can hardly talk for him barking ? He is very Attached to me loyal seems to know if Im feeling bad and he gets close to comfort me! This is the only Jack Russel ive ever had !i love him so much only thing I have trouble with is his barking alot especially if se go somewhere in vehicle !

  19. I’m on my 3rd JR and I have a problem I didn’t have with the other 2. He is 3 years old and he has never been affectionate like my first two. He doesn’t cuddle at all. I think he likes us, he might run by and lick you on the leg but he won’t let you pick him up and he won’t sit in the chair with you. It’s like he’s afraid he’s going to be trapped. He also always has his back to the wall when he eats or drinks. He will chase a ball and bring it back until you finally wear out. I don’t think there is a “fix” for this, he’s just very independent and self sufficient.

  20. I have never owned a Jack Russell until a week ago. My husband found it out in the cold, someone had put it out like the trash, probably a Christmas gift that they decided they couldn't handle. She is adorable, she is 5 weeks old so you can imagine needs a lot of attention and care, especially at night as she didn't have the opportunity to be weened by her mom. But since we have lots of experience with dogs from over the years she's not a problem. I elected to be her buddy so I do the night feeding and gather any and all waste. We'll get there. TFS all your tips and tricks you can count on me as a new subscriber. Tina

  21. I just got a 2 month old male, and he's definitely a whinning crybaby. We play with him hold him, let him sleep on us and soon as it's crate time he whines for about an hour, until he gets tired but over all I block out that whinning because I love him. I feel eventually it will get better????????????????????

  22. One method to slow the digging is to drop their scat into a hole they've dug. They may just dig a new hole but if you keep after it, they should get the idea.

  23. One prob w/ my 8 mo old "Franky" he won't come to me!! But he is soooo loving and sweet… we walk for about an hour a day and I let him off leash in a field but he just won't come backto me; i always bring treats that help me to catch him. maybe that's why (because he loves that freedom to run and doesn't want to come back?) anyway! Great video; glad I found your channel 🙂

  24. We have a jack russell cross and 100%of what you mentioned are true about him!
He is a real hunter and I can see what a strong prey drive he has. He recently hunted down a cockatoo (very sad, I know…) and killed the bird in front of me within a few seconds. Unbelievable hunting skills!!!

  25. Jack Russell s are AWESOME LITTLE DOGS and you were spot on in your descriptions of the little guy ours is a male his name is Bandit and im crazy in love with him our first week as Bandits new owners he broke his left from leg and had to have surgery and a metal plate placed right on the growth plate hes all better now just a mere $5,000.00 and he's good as new but you talked about thier boredom and we know first hand because of his love to shred the puppy pads we lay out,I was looking for a way to share a picture of him but Im not seeing a way but he is the cutest.
